Verb was conceived after hearing complaints from web designers who were getting bogged down by requests to update content on websites that they had designed years ago. "Our clients should be able to do this themselves," they said.

They hired programmers to develop custom content management systems for each new website they made; this made the clients happy but wasted so much time at the design shop.

Enter Verb. Now designers can create custom content management systems for any website they design, quickly and easily through the Verb website.

Verb works by installing a simple client library on your web server which enables access to the content data through a special markup language called VerbML (Verb Markup Language). Or, more advanced designers and developers can access the content directly from PHP, Flash, Perl, Ruby on Rails, and more.

Who should use Verb?

Verb was created by a small web design shop, but it is ideal for anyone who is designing websites for others. If you find yourself manually updating content (or setting up kludgy ways to update content, such as bloated CMS software), you would probably benefit from Verb.

How much coding knowledge is necessary?

You can design and configure the entire backend, manage users, and add content through the Verb web interface. All you need is a modern browser. To integrate the content published through Verb into your design, you'll use VerbML (Verb Markup Language), which is very similar to HTML. If you understand HTML, you'll understand VerbML. Advanced developers may get at the data directly by using PHP, Flash, or anything else that can parse an XML feed.

My clients have no web knowledge, will they be able to manage content?

Yes! The Verb interface for end-users is very simple and user-friendly and features a rich-text editor that resembles popular word processing software.

Is my data safe?

It's probably safer on Verb than your current web host. We store all data on high performance servers in Secaucus, NJ and San Antonio, TX and perform remote backups 4 times a day to backup location in New York, NY. We also keep a second backup copy of your data on Amazon's S3 storage cloud.
